“Game of Thrones” creator George R.R. Martin apparently wasn’t sad to see the show end on HBO.
The hit show came to an end this summer after eight seasons, and it had gone past what Martin had written in the books. You’d think he might have been sad to see it end. Well, you’d be wrong. (RELATED: These Are The Sexiest Photos Of ‘Game Of Thrones‘ Star Emilia Clarke On The Internet)
Martin said the following during an interview with The Observer that was published on Sunday about the iconic TV show coming to an end:
There were a couple of years where, if I could have finished the book, I could have stayed ahead of the show for another couple of years, and the stress was enormous. I don’t think it was very good for me, because the very thing that should have speeded me up actually slowed me down. Every day I sat down to write and even if I had a good day – and a good day for me is three or four pages – I’d feel terrible because I’d be thinking: ‘My God, I have to finish the book. I’ve only written four pages when I should have written 40.’ But having the show finish is freeing, because I’m at my own pace now.
Well, I’m glad the ending of “Game of Thrones” was “freeing” for Martin. I really am. Couldn’t be happier for him.
For the rest of us, it was borderline tragic. The show had been so great for so long, and then just limped past the finish line.
I’m still bitter about how the show ended on HBO, and it was over months ago. I might never be over it.
Martin might have less stress in his life, but the rest of us are left constantly wondering how HBO and the people involved managed to ruin such a great show.
Would you like to know if the ending was freeing for me? It most certainly was not. Not even a little. It just pissed me off and made me think we’d all been royally screwed.

I honestly couldn’t care less about the books Martin still has to finish. I’ll never read them, and I have zero interest in attempting to do so.
Let’s hope the prequels are just as great as “Game of Thrones” was, minus the garbage ending. If that happens, then I think fans will be more than happy.
You’d think HBO would have learned from their mistakes, but I guess you never know for sure.
