It’s time for another list of great movies and TV shows to consume while staying safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

So far, we’ve run down the best war movies, sports movies, comedies and TV shows for you all to watch. Now, we’re going to cover the best apocalyptic shows and movies for all of you. Admittedly, this really isn’t a genre I’m an expert on, but I think I have some strong suggestions. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Let’s dive right in!

1) Jericho

I loved watching “Jericho” as a kid. It was initially canceled after one season on CBS, but fan outrage brought back a short season two.

The plot is super simple. A bunch of nukes go off across America, and society as we know it ended. The show follows a small town in Kansas as they grapple with the crisis.

It’s absolutely captivating, and I’d encourage you to all watch if you haven’t seen it already.

2) Zombieland

You can’t have an apocalypse list without including “Zombieland.” Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Woody Harrelson combined for one of the funnier movies made in the past two decades.

Who knew a zombie apocalypse could be so entertaining? I haven’t seen the sequel yet, but the original is outstanding.

3) The Last Ship

This is another GOAT TV series, and I used to crush these episodes in college through the end of the great series. After a virus wipes out society, a single American naval ship, the USS Nathan James, must save the world.

Season after season, they find new enemies and new challenges. The first couple seasons of “The Last Ship” are right up there with the best TV you’ll ever see.

4) World War Z

Now, it’s my understanding that the “World War Z” book is much better than the movie with Brad Pitt. Now, I never read the book. So, I can only go off of the movie, which I think is great.

Brad Pitt stars as a genius scientist tasked with finding a cure for a pandemic that turns people into crazy zombies.

It’s an edge-of-your-seat kind of movie and it’s just pretty badass overall. If you haven’t already given it a chance, I suggest you do.

5) The Day After

This one is a blast from the past, but it’s a great one. “The Day After” tells the story of the immediate aftermath of a nuclear exchange between the Soviet Union and the United States of America.

There’s not a whole lot of action outside of the bombing scene, but it’s pretty damn scary to think about what life would have been like.

6) The Crazies

As you all know with me being a huge fan of “Justified,” I’m big on anything Timothy Olyphant does. In “The Crazies,” he plays a sheriff trying to figure out why his small town has people losing their minds and killing each other.

His search for answers takes him down a terrifying path.

7) Outbreak

This movie with an A-list cast is about a virus being spread by a monkey. Is it absurd and over the top at times? Yes, but that’s what makes “Outbreak” so damn entertaining.

If you’re looking for another virus movie, then this one could be the one for you.

There you have it, folks. Those are my top seven movies and TV shows if you need a little apocalypse binge. Happy viewing!
