Former NHL coach Bill Peters is headed to the KHL.
Peters resigned from the Calgary Flames after he was accused by Akim Aliu of using racial slurs over his choice in music while coaching in the AHL. According to the New York Post, Peters is now the coach of Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

“I think as time goes on we all grow and improve and become better versions of ourselves, and I’m no different than that,” Peters told the Russian media after being hired. “You learn from all the experiences that you’re in, and you become better.”

All things considered, this is a pretty big move for Peters. Coaching in the NHL again probably isn’t an option after the massive PR fallout from the racial slur allegations.
The KHL is the second best hockey league in the world. The only league that’s better is the NHL. The Russian league is stocked with some of the best talent in the world.
If you can’t coach in the NHL, then the KHL is probably the best option on the table. It provides high-end talent and there’s a lot of money to be made there.

While it might not be the NHL and Peters might have to be on a different continent for his career to continue, he’s much better off than most other coaches in the game.
Again, outside of coaching in the NHL, the KHL might very well be the next best option. He’s probably never coaching in the NHL ever again, but he can make some big money in Russia.

We’ll have to see how he does, but I think it’s safe to say Peters made out pretty well from the whole situation.
