Musician Beyoncé has donated $6 million to mental health services through her charity BeyGOOD.

The singer announced Wednesday that her foundation would be partnering with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s #startsmall initiative, according to a statement made on her website.

“BeyGOOD recognizes the immense mental and personal health burdens being placed on essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic,” the statement said. “In our major cities, African-Americans comprise a disproportionate number of workers in these indispensable occupations, and they will need mental health support and personal wellness care, including testing and medical services, food supplies and food deliveries, both during and after the crisis.”

“BeyGOOD has partnered with Jack Dorsey’s #startsmall to provide $6 million in funding to organizations providing mental wellness services, through a key national partnership with UCLA,” the statement continued. “The initiative is also partnering with the National Alliance in Mental Illness (NAMI) to offer local support in Houston, New York, New Orleans and Detroit.” (RELATED: Rihanna Teams Up With Jack Dorsey To Up $4M Grant For Domestic Violence Survivors Amid Coronavirus Pandemic)

Beyoncé isn’t the only celebrity to partner with Dorsey’s #startsmall initiative. Both Rihanna and Jay-Z have also donated in partnership with Dorsey to other causes amid the coronavirus pandemic.

I think it’s so cool to see these celebrities finding other causes to donate to besides just the obvious. The coronavirus pandemic has brought on a lot of different stress for a lot of different people and the fact that she’s focusing local too is so great.
