Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook has tested positive for the coronavirus weeks before the NBA season is set to resume in Orlando.

“I tested positive for covid-19 prior to my teams departure to Orlando,” Westbrook wrote. “I’m currently feeling well, quarantined, and looking forward to rejoining my teammates when I am cleared. Thank you all for the well wishes and continued support. Please take this virus seriously. Be safe. Mask up.”

Obviously, the most important news here is about Westbrook’s health. It’s certainly great to hear that he is feeling well, and plans to return to his team as soon as he’s cleared. The NBA season is set to resume in Orlando on July 30, and the Rockets are scheduled to play their first game on July 31, against the Dallas Mavericks. The Rockets have championship aspirations, and Westbrook is a key part of those hopes, alongside superstar guard James Harden. But, before the Rockets can realistically pursue those championship dreams, Westbrook must get healthy and be cleared.
