Johnny Manziel is very aware that his time in the NFL was an absolute disaster.

The Texas A&M Heisman winner was drafted in the first round by the Cleveland Browns, and flamed out in infamous fashion in two seasons. He’s under no illusions on how his time in the NFL went. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Manziel said the following on the “Ya Neva Know: You Know What I Mean?” podcast when discussing his time in Cleveland, according to the New York Post.

I absolutely, 100 percent lost their respect. Why wouldn’t you? If I was one of them looking back at what I was doing, and your decisions that you make off the field impact if I put food on mine, yeah I’d feel some type of way, 100 percent. I would say we wasted a draft pick to go get this guy who doesn’t give a f**k. And that’s my only thing in life that I haven’t been able to look back and fully have closure on.

You can listen to the entire interview below.

It’s pretty refreshing to see how sober Manziel is when it comes to looking at his career in the NFL. He’s being incredibly blunt that it was a disaster.

Let’s just be honest. It was a disaster by any metric you have. It was an utter disaster. He entered the league with all the hype in the world, and it didn’t work out.

We all know what happened next. Manziel struggled in life while under the public spotlight. Now, he seems to be doing well, seems healthy and that’s all you can ask for.

Obviously, he’s never going to play another snap of football, and that’s okay. I’d rather be healthy and happy than a football player if it meant being upset all the time.

It should be interesting to see what Manziel does down the road. He still has a shocking amount of name recognition and I have no doubt he can still make some serious money. No matter what, props to him for being real about how it all went wrong.
