Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz plans on playing in the Duke‘s Mayo Bowl against Wake Forest.

Mertz had to leave the Minnesota game with a head injury, but he’s apparently ready to roll against the Demon Deacons. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

According to Dave Heller, Mertz told the media Saturday that he’s “good to go” for the bowl game this Wednesday.

While this is good news for the team, I’m not sure rushing Graham Mertz out onto the field is a great idea.

After all, we have to worry about the future. This season was a disaster and we just need it to be over with.

The last thing Wisconsin needs to do is put Mertz in a position where he could get hurt again for a meaningless win.

That might sound harsh, but it’s also 100% true. This bowl game is a joke, and I’m not even happy we’re playing in it.

The last thing I want to see happen is Mertz get hurt.

For those of us who are addicted to the Badgers, you can catch the game at 12:00 EST Wednesday on ESPN. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that nothing happens to the face of the program.
