Amazon has finally dropped the plot details for the upcoming “Lord of the Rings” series.

The highly anticipated series is slated to start at some point in 2021, and fans now have an idea of what it’ll be about. (REVIEW: ‘Westworld’ Season 3 Ends With The Possible Deaths Of Multiple Characters)

The synopsis is described as follows on Amazon’s PR website:

Amazon Studios’ forthcoming series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

The series is believed to be dropping at some point in 2021, but it’s unclear if the coronavirus pandemic will change those plans, according to IndieWire.

Hopefully, coronavirus doesn’t cause too many impacts and we can get the series sooner than later. After all, “LOTR” is one of the greatest stories ever told.

Now, as for the series from Amazon, I can’t tell you how juiced I am to see what fans get. I owned the extended versions of the original trilogy on DVD, and I crushed them all the time as a kid.

Nothing was better than watching the Battle of Helm’s Deep.

It sounds like the new series will focus heavily on Sauron’s rise to power and his control over Middle Earth. Yeah, you can go ahead and sign me up immediately for that kind of action.

I don’t even have to think about it. I’m all the way in.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that we do get the “Lord of the Rings” series from Amazon at some point 2021. It sounds like it’s going to be a great time!
