Urban Meyer and the Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly on the brink of getting a deal done.
Meyer’s name has been attached to the opening in Jacksonville for a couple weeks at this point, and it sounds like action is imminent. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
According to Adam Schefter early Thursday morning, the two sides are in “advanced” talks and a deal could come at some point this week.
Jacksonville and former Ohio St. HC Urban Meyer are in advanced talks to see if they can finalize a deal, per league sources. They met again Wednesday.

At this time, it’s Jacksonville as the one and only for Urban Meyer. Jaguars’ owner Shad Khan’s process has led him to Meyer, and Meyer is highly interested, and the two sides are interested in trying to finalize a deal this week. https://t.co/gDpE46pyuG

My opinion on this situation has shifted a bunch over the past month. I never thought Meyer would coach again.
Well, it now seems like it could become official at literally any moment. At this point, I think it’s more likely than not we see Meyer on the sidelines in Jacksonville week one of the NFL season.

How will he do? Well, he’s going to have Trevor Lawrence under center and there are few men on the planet who know Xs and Os better than him.
At the same time, jumping to the NFL doesn’t always pan out for college coaches. They’re not dealing with teenagers anymore. They’re dealing with grown men with guaranteed money.
It’s a very different dynamic.

Either way, I hope a deal gets done. I would love to see how Meyer does.
