Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander took a puck to the face during a 3-1 Monday loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Late in the first period, Hoglander was hit by his own teammate in the face, and it didn’t take long at all for the blood to start flowing. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

I believe this is why people call hockey a man’s game. This is what separates it from every other major team sport.

Hoglander took a damn puck to the face, and handled it like a champ.

He didn’t act like he had been shot in the head or do something dramatic like you’d see in soccer. He skated around a little bit, gathered his thoughts and proceeded to leave the ice.

You can’t teach that kind of toughness. You’re either born with it or you’re not, and Hoglander has it in spades.

Heal up soon, big guy! At least he’ll always have this wild story.
