New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman has offered to have dinner with Meyers Leonard.

Leonard is in some seriously hot water after he called someone a “k*ke b*tch” during a livestream of “Call of Duty.” (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

“I get the sense that you didn’t use that word out of hate, more out of ignorance…Hate is like a virus. Even accidentally, it can rapidly spread. I’m down in Miami fairly often. Let’s do a Shabbat dinner with some friends I’ll show you a fun time,” Edelman, who is Jewish, wrote in an open letter Wednesday.

This right here is how you handle a situation like the one Meyers has found himself in. Like I’ve said before, canceling someone and ruining their life doesn’t teach them anything.

Kicking Meyers out of the NBA won’t help him become a better person who uses better language. You know how you do that?

You reach across the aisle, extend your hand and help educate. That’s exactly what Edelman is trying to do, and he should be applauded. He’s doing a hell of a lot more than anyone trying to cancel Meyers.

Hopefully, Meyers takes Edelman up on his offer. The world would be a much better place if we helped educate each other like Edelman is attempting to do. Props to the Patriots star for leading by example.
