Canelo Alvarez defeating Billy Joe Saunders set the attendance record for an indoor boxing match over the weekend.

According to SportsProMedia.com, the highly-anticipated fight had 73,126 fans in attendance at AT&T Stadium in Texas. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

That was enough to easily shatter the previous record of 63,000, which was set when Muhammad Ali beat Leon Spinks in 1978.

Do we think people are excited to get back to sporting events or do we think people are excited? The answer is an overwhelming yes.

People are incredibly excited to get back to a sense of normalcy and get back to sporting events. The fact that more than 73,000 people showed up to Canelo beat Saunders is proof of that fact.

If this many people are filing in for a boxing match, I can’t wait to see packed football stadiums again in the fall. Just the thought of it brings tears to my eyes.
