The most expensive scene in “The Office” was a very short one.

According to BroBible, Angela Kinsey and Jenna Fischer discussed the most expensive scene on a recent episode of their podcast “Office Ladies,” and it turns out that it was the moment Jim proposed to Pam. (REVIEW: ‘Westworld’ Season 3 Ends With The Possible Deaths Of Multiple Characters)

Fischer said the following in part:

The self-serve locale was based on ones the showrunner saw as a child, but instead of using something already in existence, the team behind the show built their own gas station set in nine days ‘in the parking lot of a Best Buy.’ In the end, this was the single most expensive scene ever shot in the entire run of the show. It lasts 52 seconds, and it cost $250,000.

For those of you who might not remember the scene or haven’t seen it in a long time, you can watch it below.

It’s a bit mind-boggling that such a simple scene could possibly cost so much money. Even considering the fact the set was built from scratch, it still seems like a ton of cash.

We’re talking about $250,000 for a grand total of 52 seconds on television screens around America. That’s a lot of cash.

However, I’d also say that it was worth it at the end of the day. Jim’s proposal to Pam was an all-time great moment in the history of the show.

I mean, who had a dry eye when it happened? I know I damn sure didn’t. For the two characters involved, only the wedding might have been better.

Also, as a fan of “The Office,” I might have to start listening to this podcast. Sounds like it’s full of fun random facts.
