Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva recently had a golden line about playing his position.
During the “Sunday Night Football” game against the Chiefs, NBC put up a quote from Villanueva that is nothing short of incredible about the challenges of being a tackle. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
“It reminds me of jumping out of airplanes when I was in the Army. There is very little upside. the best thing that can happen when you jump is you survive. Playing tackle is kind of the same way. The best thing that can happen is nothing happens,” the NFL star and Army veteran explained.

Well, that’s certainly one way to look at playing on the offensive line in the NFL. I’m not sure I 100% agree, but Villanueva would know a hell of a lot more than I would.
Not only is he a great NFL player, but he’s also a former Army Ranger with three tours in Afghanistan under his belt.
In terms of people qualified to talk about playing on the line and fighting in a war, Villanueva is one of the very few people right at the top of the list.
Dropping a quote like this one is also certified proof that he’s a football guy, and we all know we love football guys around here.
Nothing gets the blood pumping like comparing blocking for your QB to jumping out of a plane flying hundreds of miles per hour.

Shoutout to Villanueva for giving us one of the early frontrunners for quote of the year.
